Mamata Banerjee Suffers 'Major Injury,' Admitted To Hospital, Says TMC


NEW DELHI: Trinamool Congress on Thursday said that West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee suffered a major injury, and was later admitted to the hospital.


The All India Trinamool Congress shared photos of the West Bengal chief minister on a hospital bed with a deep cut on her forehead and blood on her face. Mamata Banerjee's brother Kartik Banerjee told a Bengali news channel that the chief minister had a fall inside her home in Kolkata after returning from attending an event in the city.


Meanwhile, Tamil Nadu chief minister MK Stalin expressed shock over the incident and wished her a speedy recovery.


"Shocked and deeply concerned about the road accident involving Hon'ble chief minister of West Bengal @MamataOfficial didi. My thoughts are with her during this difficult time, and I'm wishing her a speedy recovery," Stalin said in a post on X.


According to PTI sources, TMC national general secretary and Mamata's nephew Abhishek Banerjee got her admitted to the hospital.


State BJP president Sukanta Majumdar also wished her a speedy recovery.
